GRAPHIC DESIGN Distance Learning | Bingo Choice Board

This board gives students a wealth of choices based on what kind of access to technology they might have. I have linked to my Adobe Alternative Apps page through this. This also has links to a plethora of external sites/sources that I have compiled to make interesting assignments but gives you the option to customize the board with your own requirements. This took me 16+ hours to create, so I am hoping it will save you that much time or more!

This choice board gives you the option to edit the assignments I have included (or keep mine!) I have links to Pinterest example boards, some templates, youtube links, etc. It has a column for you to customize your point value, due date, etc. The assignments are either based around Elements of Art (one column) or craft-based projects based on different materials students might have at home like painting with coffee grounds, for example. Enjoy!

This is a PDF document of the signage I use in my classroom for classroom management. I created these in Adobe Illustrator and customized the centering and spacing. Use some or use all! I print them using a laser printer on card stock and then laminate them so they last. I also use a corner-roung-cutter to make them look a little more custom.

"WHY TEENS MAY NEVER BE THE SAME AFTER THE PANDEMIC"By Scottie Andrew, CNN | Updated 4:34 PM ET, Thu April 16, 2020 "...Adolescence is the time when young people start to piece together who they are, or at least who they'll be right now, she said. Many of the pieces that once defined them are lost to the virus. "In a way, it's limiting their identity," Hostinar said. All this change is overwhelming -- and the autonomy and independence that teens crave is next to impossible to achieve when most p

Art Classes (upper level) can use this distance learning to practice sketchbook exploration. "Your time in independent study is purely going to focus and revolve around developing your own personal style. What is your style? What is your sketch style? What are your line qualities? What are your color choices? Texture choices (mixed media items glued in)? All of the Elements of Art in a way that shapes you as an artist (pun intended). This should be a self-driven-exploration. You need to WANT to

Back to School | "Artist Inventory" Student Questionnaire

This is a questionnaire for your students on the first (or second) day of class to give you a quick glimpse into their little world. It has really helped me to get to know a snapshot of them in a somewhat intimate scope (because of questions) but has a playful nature being called an "Artist Inventory". I customized mine by placing a screenshot of my Bitmoji on the lower corner (as seen in the preview). The document is blank so you can leave it blank or add your own artwork/personalization.

This is is where I ask my students to use the Comment feature to critique each other's work. These are the instructions I sent to my students in Google Classroom: "PEER CRITIQUE A. About the store

Experience

Visual & Performing Arts Department Chair at a small high school in California. My art students are National Art Honor Society members and are continuously finding ways to beautify our community. I have taught, Art 1-4, Ceramics 1-3, and Graphic Design 1 (Adobe Illustrator)- 2 (Adobe Photoshop).

Teaching style

My teaching style is rigorous, sarcastic, and a little bit of tough love. I teach in a dominantly wealthy area and strive to not "hand-hold" my students. On other side of things, I am the nurturing type in a time of need. I am loud and teach with accents (why not?) I am the only art teacher at my school so I do what I can to make it work. All first-level courses cover a brief Art History, Ceramics History, or Graphic Design History timeline that we cover throughout the year. Projects are broken into large units that I backward mapped into activities and demonstrations.

My own education history

I was "the art kid" my whole life. I went to California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California and received a BFA in Art & Design with a concentration in Graphic Design. I received a Single Subject Art Credential (and a Single Subject Home Ec Cred for fun).

Additional biographical information

I am a wife to a fireman and a mother to a beautiful baby boy that suffered a stroke around birth. Outside of teaching, my family works with him daily to encourage use of the right side of his body. I appreciate your patronage to my shop as medical bills are always ongoing. Thank you.
