Heart's First Schooling

This study will help prepare your children for the Olympics in China coming up February 6th to February 22nd, 2026. This is taken from a western Canadian perspective. You can choose either the “Gold, Silver or Bronze” options for this unit study. Many choices depending on your time and interest. Ideas are placed in a suggested “Scope and Sequence” with extension ideas for Language Arts, Math, Social and Science, Art, PE and Religion. Food has a way of bringing your senses alive! It is also a great way to “teach” other subjects like fractions for Math, reading procedural writing for LA, the Science of kitchen chemistry and if you add cultural traditions, then you have also added Social! I love creating memories with special foods throughout the year. That is what inspired this recipe collection for Lent. Some are from Mardi Gras and Shove Tuesday whereas others follow all the way to Holy Thursday. Enjoy the stories with each

Let's welcome the beginning of spring. Here in northern Alberta, March 20th does not look like the new-life of spring flowers and green but more like mud and brown. All the more reason to celebrate!
