My autism classroom is set up with 3 areas in mind.
1. Teacher Led Center: This is where I teach direct instruction with the curriculum of Unique N2Y and IEP goals.
2. Independent Work Tasks Center: This is where the students are assigned tasks that are more independent. My Autism Mentor Aides monitor this center and assure task completion and accuracy is taking place. Aides also take data on completed work.
3. Free Choice Center: This is the time that students have social skills practice, classroom expectations (clean up, organizing, sharing, etc.), and satisfy sensory needs.
