About the store

I have had the pleasure of making teaching my career over the past 15 years. I truly love it more today than I did the day I started. My family moved to Idaho 8 years ago from California. I taught 5th grade in California at a low socio economic ELL school for 5 years after a short stint in 3rd grade. I moved to middle school when we came to Idaho and began teaching 6th grade Language Arts. I spent 4 years in 6th grade before moving to 7th grade where I taught primarily English. I now teach 8th grade Language Arts. I also teach two Honors English classes, produce the school newspaper in an 8th grade Publications elective, and am the yearbook adviser.

Often students do not completely understand what a rubric is assessing or how to use it when creating their original piece of writing. This rubric is student friendly and can be adapted to all different types of writing styles. It is currently formatted for Research because that is what we are currently working on in class. I have modified this rubric and used it for projects, or the kids have graded each other using it as well. ENJOY!

Experience

Teaching style

I am a 21st century teacher. I believe in teaching through example and experience. I do not use textbooks. I utilize the technology we are so fortunate to be able to use in our classrooms today. I believe that project based learning is the most effective method for most middle school students.

My own education history

I am graduate of The University of Denver. I have my BA in Communications with a minor in Sociology. I received my teaching credential from National University in San Jose, California.
