This is a letter written to parents/guardians of students who have not yet mastered their multiplication facts. This document recommends that students continue practicing math facts at home and includes a chart for parents to initial. Websites and free apps are included in the letter.

Students are asked to complete a plot summary handout for the stories "Finding Lincoln" by Ann Malaspina and "The Other Side" by Jacqueline Woodson. Comprehension questions are included for after the reading, which ask students to identify the Point of View, Change in Perspective, Character Traits, and include Textual Evidence. Two packets of similar material are attached. One packet is considered the "Just Right" level of material, where students are asked to problem solve through various 5th grade math objectives. The "Review" level is for students who are more successful with scaffolded material. This particular packet includes the same questions, but multi-step problems are broken down into sequential steps, visual aids are included, key words are highlighted, multiple choice provided, and an explanation checklist

This flipbook can be used in an interactive notebook during the place value unit with powers of 10. The blank spaces allow for students to demonstrate their understanding of the values. Values include 10^0 through 10^6. Students can use this flipbook as a resource throughout the unit. Included in the document is a mini poster to hang in the classroom, which has the same theme as the flipbook - Exponents are POWERful.

This rubric can be used for any project which required multiple assignments and due dates. However, I uploaded it as a word document so that it can be revised to your liking. It includes a range from a 1 (needs improvement) to a 4 (exceeds expectation) with a designated place for teacher comments.
This graphic organizer can be used for any students who may be having difficulty organizing their ideas into a well-developed paragraph. It allots space for planning on one side with writing the paragraph on the same page for a smooth transition.
