Background: As a math teacher, I have been horrified at how my students avoided canceling like it was the plague. I would cringe as I watched students multiply first, then reduce. Something as simple as 2/3 x 1/2 was made twice as hard. All they had to do was cancel the 2's and get a final answer of 1/3. Sooo much easier!!
