I have taught Special Education from birth to 3rd grade for the past 16 years! I have spent most of my years in Special needs preschool. I recently taught a year of general education KG which taught me a lot! Mainly that my heart is in Special Education! Mixed letters ID
This allows you to assess your students upper and lower case letter knowledge at once.
How I use it... I laminate the large table and use this with the students. That way I can write on it with a dry erase if needed and I can re-use it. I made the recording sheet 2/page to cut down on paper. I did them in the order they are on the student chart so you are not hunting for a letter with students who can quickly state them.

Basic skills assessment
This packet will help you to gather data on a student's letter, sounds, number, colors and shape knowledge. I have recording sheets based on each skill and also a 1 page sheet with all skills on it.

Kindergarten Comprehension Passages
This gives the students 3-4 sentences to read and then 3 comprehension follow up questions. They follow along the guidelines of DRA A, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Write the word CVC and CVCe
Students have to write the CVC or CVCe words. There are 2 formats. One where they write the entire word and one where they just fill in the vowel sound.

Experience

Teaching style
I am very laid back and as long as we are meeting our goals and objectives then it is all good! I like to mix in fun while we are learning! I like to allow my students as much freedom as possible so that they feel like they are the ones in charge and I am there to keep us on the right path. I believe less is more. I like to keep my products simple so it doesn't distract the student and it is easy prep work for the teacher!
Awards & shining teacher moments
I was nominated for our county's Excellence in Action award my first year in the position! We are in 8th largest district in the US so it was quite an honor!
My own education history
BS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati,
BA in Communications from the University of Cincinnati,
various other classes to stay current. Recently I attended the Orton Gillingham week long course which was AMAZING!
Additional biographical information
I was born and raised in Ohio and after 39 winters I convinced my husband to move across the country with me to sunny Florida! I have 3 children, and various pets that come in and out of the home. We love exploring new areas of Florida, hitting the beach, relaxing by the pool and finding new ways to engage my students!
