Over the course of my years in Special Education, I have seen a number of students overreact when they feel like someone is laughing at them, or picking on them. This flow chart can be used to show them that they have two choices in reacting to perceived bullying.
This is a reflection sheet for students who are working on monitoring their behaviors during class lessons. It allows the opportunity to discuss with them the expectations of the lesson prior to beginning, let them choose a goal (a number of points to earn) and then reflect to see if they earned their goal at the end of the lesson.
Students can look at the seven qualities of being a great student to earn points. They can reflect on how and why they did/didn't earn their points. The grading system is very positive and focuses on growth and achievement rather than where they are struggling. They have an opportunity to share what they learned and what their goal is at the bottom of the page.
