Hope Etta Johnson

I am currently in my third year of teaching. I student taught in Kindergarten and spent my first year teaching 3rd grade in Nebraska. I am currently in my second year teaching 5th grade Math and Science.

My teaching style promotes individual accountability as well as some group accountability. I am not a big believer in homework as I like to give my students plenty of time to work on it in class. If they do not get it done before the end of class then I do not feel that they know it well enough to take it home in the first place. I also firmly believe that children have more and more going on in their lives that they should still have the time to play afterschool and simply be a kid. On the other side of this coin I preface a lot of my lessons with "Respect my time and I will respect yours." If students are not behaving or taking the lesson seriously they know that they will receive homework since they have wasted lesson time.

I graduated with my Bachelors of Art in K-6 Education from Western Governors University. I am also currently enrolled in Western Governors University working on my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.

I am married and have one child named Rowdy who is 1 year old.
