Activity 1: Students will use a graphing calculator to graph a set of pairs of equations to determine if they parallel or not and then use inductive reasoning to make a conclusion about the slopes of parallel lines. Activity 2: Students will do the same for perpendicular lines. Before giving students this activity, make sure they understand what parallel and perpendicular lines look like, and the difference between perpendicular and intersecting lines.
