Estimating Sums and Differences Math Journal Notes

Why Use Math Journals? While students learn how to "do" math, they must also learn how to articulate what they are learning. It is important to provide many opportunities for students to organize and record their work without the structure of a worksheet. Math journals support students' learning because, in order to get their ideas on paper, children must organize, clarify, and reflect on their thinking. Initially many students will need support and encouragement in order to communicate their id

Teaching style

I love to keep up with the latest research in reading interventions and instruction. Finding the perfect recipe for a struggling reader is a challenge that I enjoy. I learn from each student that I work with and am continuously adding new strategies and ideas to my toolbox. I also enjoy helping my co-workers find new ways to address reading difficulties in their classrooms. I have designed lots of games for my students to keep them active and engaged! I follow the Science of Reading Approach to Literacy as well as some of the Orton Gillingham Approach. I love using multisensory techniques when working with children and helping them grasp the skills needed to be successful readers!
