Experience

This is my 11th year teaching in a Title One school in Virginia (VA is for lovers)! I have taught 4th and 5th grade in the classroom and now I am currently a Title One Reading Specialist who works with K-5. Teaching style

I love to keep up with the latest research in reading interventions and instruction. Finding the perfect recipe for a struggling reader is a challenge that I enjoy. I learn from each student that I work with and am continuously adding new strategies and ideas to my toolbox. I also enjoy helping my co-workers find new ways to address reading difficulties in their classrooms. I have designed lots of games for my students to keep them active and engaged! I follow the Science of Reading Approach to Literacy as well as some of the Orton Gillingham Approach. I love using multisensory techniques when working with children and helping them grasp the skills needed to be successful readers!
