Students can use their teamwork skills to accomplish these challenges. 4 challenges have been provided using similar resources to create a fair competition. The most important part is the planning and design process.
This lab requires students to be using an open candle. They will learn about how citrus reacts to heat and can create a secret message for their competing groups. This is a great time to discuss safety in the classroom and lab.
This is a great and different kind of Christmas activity! Students will secretly draw a name out of a hat and from that day until the final chosen day, must perform random acts of kindness for that person. Here is the catch: They can't blow their cover! During that time they will also start planning a letter to write to their special friend which will be given to them on the final day. Use the writing prompts to help them come up with content for their letter.
Students will begin with 6 test tubes of cabbage water (boiled, then cooled). They will add various solutions and through observation record it's acidic or base qualities as well as possible pH level.
