About the store

Experience

I have been teaching English to non-native students around Asia for the last 8 years. Throughout these 8 years I picked up many new teaching strategies based on the different difficulties I found my students facing in South Korea, Indonesia, and China. Although 5 of the years I had been focusing on teaching only English Language Arts, I also now have 3 years of experience teaching Science in English with translation given as needed.

Teaching style

My teaching style is quite simple and laid back, however I have found through my experiences that not every student can thrive under a specific one teaching style. Therefore, I try to mix up my activities within a lesson to reach all learner types and make my classroom an environment where students want to be.

My own education history

I graduated in 2009 from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have a State of Illinois Teaching Certificate for K-9. Upon teaching in China i have received hours of training with Cambridge University Press on topics relating to 'Primary Science', 'Assessment for Learning', and 'Active Learning'. In this past year I received hours of training with International Primary Curriculum learning about 'Imbedding IPC into the Classroom'.
