Looking for a fun lab to do with your students leading up to winter break? Have them show their knowledge about solvents and make observations about candy canes dissolving in different liquids. Students will time how long it takes each candy cane to dissolve in a different liquid, then record their results in a table and graph. Page 3 offers the option for them to use Claim, Evidence, Reasoning for their conclusion. Goes along with MYP B and C year 1 for science. Materials needed for lab: -mini

In this assignment, students will read about different ways climate change is affecting our planet and its inhabitants with articles from Newsela. They will then take what they learn from the article and create a version of a story to represent what they learned.
