Hands - on learning and/or teaching is best, but variety is the spice of life. Knowing that, my school does some workbooks, lots of reading, trips to the library, online math, and outdoor science! It works for our family.
My own education history
I began as a public school teacher and then transitioned to a private school, where my children attended. After two years of that, I decided to home-educate my children. I now teach them (and some other children occasionally), and have begun a local support group/co-op for other home-schooled children.
