My own education history

I began teaching in 2003 after completing my QTS graduate teacher programme in primary education. I am particularly interested in Early Years education as well as sport and fitness, development across all ages, further developing this interest in my practice across all of the school in which I have worked. In the autumn term of 2019 I taught in a small school with a three year group class in ks2. I have also taught in EYFS, KS1 and KS2, focussing on the teaching of phonics and the concrete approach to solve real life maths problems. My subsequent work has provided experience across various aspects of school life where I have developed a love of learning within the EYFS setting. This has fired an aspiration in helping to inspire children to pursue healthier lifestyles in terms of developing of fitness, understanding the concepts of healthy eating and mental wellbeing.

Additional biographical information

With a passion for health and mental wellbeing, I have completed a level 5 diploma in ‘Advanced Clinical weight loss practitioner,’ certified with The Health Science Academy, CPD in Childhood obesity and prevention. More recently I have continued my learning with the Open University in ‘challenging minds in mental health’, ‘young people’s wellbeing’ and ‘emotions and emotional disorders’ in order to extend my knowledge of these issues in order to successfully support young people as research indicates that many are facing forms of stress in primary school through into their teens. I also teach adults and children swimming as I am a qualified level 2 swimming teacher, holding a qualification as a national pool life guard, a CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing and a CYQ level 2 aqua instructor certificate. With the additional qualifications I hold, I want to explore my passion in supporting children and teenagers in having a healthy diet, lifestyle and good mental health.with my qualification as an advanced clinical weight loss practitioner. I will continue to write creative primary and secondary school lessons and units of work that I am selling on three teaching sites. I am looking into different ways of teaching and exploring online tutoring both freelance and with W Tutors. https://wtutors.com/teachers/nikkimarsh
