Materials - Designing your own house [Grades 3, 4, 5]
I believe in learning through making, discovery and personal projects. Children learn best when they are invested in what they are learning and discovering for themselves. Our materials topic goes through the process of designing a house. Children learn about different types of materials, how they are made, their properties and then consider how they would use what they have learnt in order to design their own house. Teaching style
I'm a strong believer in learning through making and discovery. I try and let the child take charge and direct their own learning by creating learning activities that are part of a larger project.
By letting the child take pride in what they're making you really begin to engage them in whatever you're teaching.
My own education history
When I was 4 years old I went to a Steiner School for a year. A Steiner School allows children to learn at their own pace and tries to make learning as fun and exciting as possible.
Now, I'm been fascinated with how can make learning better for all students across the world.
