Teaching style

I love incorporating higher order thinking skills into lessons and using hands-on projects to engage learners. I love making my students laugh by being just a little silly. To give students confidence, I like to build their skills up over time.

Awards & shining teacher moments

* That "ah ha!" moment when a child finally gets it. * Hearing a student excitedly telling her mom what we learned that day. * Kids who are thinking about becoming mathematicians, writers, inventors, or artists at the end of the school year. * Seeing a reluctant reader dive into a good series. * Hearing kids encourage each other and boost each other up.

My own education history

My bachelor's degree is in Chemical Engineering. I then went on to earn a master's in education and multi-subject teaching credential for grades K-8. Most recently, I finished a master's program in instructional design. I also love learning outside of school through reading, documentaries, and experiencing the world myself!

Additional biographical information

I have experience tutoring reading to students with dyslexia and calculus to students at an Ivy League school. I've taught kids and adults, online and in-person. And I've seen that all learners need: * content broken down into smaller, digestible pieces * feedback and guidance * encouragement!
