This graphic organizer follows the 5Ws and a H process in helping students gather the details needed to write their narrative essay.

For this project I had my students complete the first half of packet "Trapped int he 80s" sold by Digital Divide and Conquer. Upon completion of the packet, I then went through an 80s PowerPoint by Mikal Staley. The project gives the students a menu to choose from: Artist, Music, Toys/Tech, Television, Movies, and Fashion. Students are to research their given category and write an APA formatted paper on the topic. Each paper comes with a side project such a fashion show, create an original art

The first four chapters introduces us to several characters, and many times students become confused on who is who. This simple exercise helps students identify the characters in Amir's life and then requires them to go into the text to find quotes that explain their relationship.

This project has students research "dirty jobs" and create a presentation based off the information they find. It's a fun way to get your college/career students to examine the more unorthodox careers in theUnited States. Comes with lesson instructions, list of dirty jobs, collection template, and rubric.

This 13 page lesson includes the story and 21 questions created based on the 6th - 8th grade SOL question stems.

In this exercise, students connect the parts of The Soul to a form of Reasoning, providing and explanation to how they connect, through discussion and critical thinking. Comes with Discussion Template, Definition Cards, and Rubric.

This packet includes a parent note with explanation of the paper, list of topics related to the novel or it's historical content, an in-depth how-to for APA, resource collection templates, paper outline template, and calendar for keeping track of progress.

This five page lesson contains the story and 15 questions created by SOL 6th - 8th reading testing stems.

This two-page (front & back) has students identify the antagonist & protagonist of a short story, provide a brief description, identify the type(s) of conflict involved, state the setting, give a brief summary, state the theme, POVE, and complete the plot pyramid! It's all the elements on a singular page! Great for quick assessments!

Students practice their inference skills by reading the small passage, then, activating their prior knowledge by stating what they know and what they can infer in the graphic organizer.

This worksheet coordinates with Chapter 2 of The Outsiders. It forces students to analyze the text and find examples of that disprove assumptions made within the plot.

This literacy center activity contains 10 popular idioms and their meaning. Students match the idiom to its proper meaning, demonstrating a learning understanding of the statement.
