I have taught high school Biology for 18 years. I began my career teaching in my home state of North Carolina and recently took the plunge into international teaching, first at the American Overseas School of Rome and now at Frankfurt International School. I teach AP, IB, and NGSS Biology, In addition to classroom teaching, I regularly develop inquiry-based curriculum materials and provide teacher professional development.

Teaching style

I love developing engaging, high quality, inquiry-based curriculum materials and trying them out with my students. My goal is to create a supportive learning community where students are empowered to discover complex science concepts themselves.

-National Board Certified Teacher, AYA Science -Two NSF Research Experience for Teachers Fellowships -University of NC Board of Governors Teaching Award for Exceptional Contribution in Scholarship -NC Science Teachers’ Association’s (NCSTA) Nancy Wynne Distinguished Service Award, presented annually to one NC high school science teacher for exemplary outreach & leadership.
