A simple, 5 question questionnaire that you can give to any class at the beginning of the school year. It will only take students 5 minutes to complete and gives you a well-rounded snapshot of their views on themselves, school, and how they best learn. It also ensures that your students know that you are here to get to know and support them, just as they are. It's not the most beautiful resource in the world, but it works well for me! Download includes a PDF that has two copies of the question
This is an excellent resource for students who are learning about the Scientific Method and/or the changing of states. It is an in-depth, student-led investigation with prompts along the way to ensure independent work and inquiry-based learning. It can also be easily adapted for other scientific investigations, no matter your content area. Ideal for Middle Year learners who have just been introduced to one or both of these topics. Enjoy!
This is a short activity that can be used as a creative diagnostic or formative task on Cells and their organelles. Best used for Middle Years, students can share their knowledge of cells, organelles, and differing environments by designing their own cell after being given a set of parameters that this cell needs to survive in. It's fun, creative, and requires problem-solving!
