❤️ Getting Nerdy's Dissection Models are now INSIDE OUT SCIENCE! I love bringing science, art and my passion for saving the planet together to create unique 3-D paper dissection models that are designed to transform your anatomy exploration experiences, bringing authenticity and hands-on learning to your classroom dissection simulations. Before becoming a full-time curriculum developer, I worked at an International Baccalaureate school in Atlanta, Georgia. I've exhibited at NSTA and CAST conferences and sold lessons across the country (and the world) as the "Mel" behind Getting Nerdy with Mel and Gerdy, flown on Zero-G with other teachers, worked alongside marine biologists at Skidaway Island, and I recently became a certified Master Naturalist! I have a life full of rambunctious girls and dogs, carpools and playdates, and in my not-so-free-time, I'm creating for you!

My own education history

❤️🤓 I'm a lifelong learner! I have dual Bachelor's degrees in General Biology and Biology Education with an endorsement for Reading Certification. I served on an educator advisory board at KSU. Over the years, I've expanded my educational journey to include participation in several professional development workshops, working alongside coastal and marine biologists, visiting and learning about forestry management services, leading my daughter's Girl Scout Troop, and most recently becoming a certified Master Naturalist in my state.
