Objective: Blending words by onset and rime; develop an understanding that words are made of sound chunks
Directions:
The onset is the consonant, digraph, or blend that comes before the rime. The rime is the vowel and chunk following.
Explain that we will practice separating the parts of each word.
Show each slide and ask students to name the picture.
Repeat the name of the picture by segmenting the onset and the rime. Example – b – utton.
