In this project students use the magic eraser tool to add images with a solid colored background to Van Gogh's Starry Night. I had many students create different scenes with this picture. Some replicated the batman theme, other's added roses to the image that they perceived as a giant thorn, others had police cars racing through the night. It was a fun project that reinforced how to place images, erase backgrounds, and exposed Van Gogh to the students.

Experience

I am a certified Special Education teacher that works at a school for students who have language learning disabilities. I teach Graphic Arts, Research Methods, STEM, Robotics, Basic Computers, and one elementary level class. I am very busy, but I love what I do.

Teaching style

My class is self-paced. I do not give my students deadlines. The nature of the scheduling at my district means that I see some members of one class three times a week, while I see others one time per week. In order to accommodate a thousand different projects happening simultaneously I create help sheets for my kids to follow. Due to the nature of their disability I try to make the help sheets visual. Due to different skill levels I tend to lead the kids by the nose through the project.
