I believe that having a set routine is important so that the children know what to expect, can feel successful and so behavior can be managed. I love to incorporate visuals into my lessons. Anything I can make that will help to aid in understanding or that is interactive to get my students involved is a must. My love for visual supports probably comes from my background as a speech therapist! My time spent working in that profession has helped tremendously in being able to tailor my teaching to meet the learning needs of my students. In bible class, I use a lot of songs to engage and help with comprehension. When appropriate, I like to get the students up and moving. We often play review games that require movement or get up to act out whatever bible story we have learned.
