About the store
My goal with all of my TPT products is to make resources that are accessible to students of all skill levels and easy for teachers to implement. With It's Lit Teaching resources, you'll find lessons and activities that easily scaffold--even for students years behind--require little to no prep, and keep even high schoolers engaged. Most resources come with editable, printable, or digital versions--so you can tweak lessons to suit your class and your students' needs. I worked in an urban high school with diverse and low-income students at a blended learning school, mostly at the senior grade level. My students were often years behind--sometimes with an elementary-grade reading level--but I was still expected to prepare them for standardized assessments and teach them grade-level skills. I needed resources that were highly engaging and highly scaffolded. Now, I make all of my resources for other teachers in similar circumstances. Welcome to It's Lit Teaching!

Teaching style

My students are practically adults and ready to walk the stage, so I do my best to meet them at their level. I'm pretty laid back and derive a lot of enjoyment from talking to them as they are--young adults about to enter the world and make change happen.

My own education history

I grew up a military brat, which means my K-12 education was a hodge podge of curriculum from this state and that state, but no matter where I went, I had a book and a pencil in hand. I started college at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.

Additional biographical information

I believe that teachers should work hard during the school day, but that too many lose themselves in this professional and neglect their own self-care and the pursuit of their own hobbies and lives. My hope is to provide instructional tools to help these overworked teachers kick butt during the day so they can party (or read, or snuggle their dogs, or have tea with friends) at night and on the weekends. I am a new mom and learning to balance my days between business and parenthood. I also have an amazing husband and a spunky greyhound.
