I have taught in public schools for over 28 years. I have experience in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade. I spent several years teaching bilingual and dual immersion classes, as well as ESL. I spent three years teaching Utah State University; working with pre-service teachers and teachers continuing their education on how to incorporate second language strategies into their classroom instruction.

This sort is designed to help students master the identification of triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and hexagons as required by the 2nd Grade Common Core Mathematics Standard for Geometry (2.G.A.1): Reason with shapes and their attributes – recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of faces. Geometric Solid Shape Sort - Independent Math Center
Geometric Solid Sort is an independent math center designed to help students with recognition of pyramids, cones, spheres, cylinders, cubes, and rectangular prisms. The center contains a student direction sheet, 24 pictures of objects that are geometric solids, 6 geometric solid name headers, and a student record sheet. Students will sort the pictures under the correct headers, and then record several examples of each type of geometric solid on their paper.

Geometric Solid Scoot
This is a fun way for students to practice recognition of six basic geometric solids: rectangular prism, cube, cone, cylinder, pyramid (rectangular), and sphere. The set contains 26 geometric solid pictures labeled A-Z, directions on how to scoot, and a reproducible record sheet for students to write their answers.

I have a BS in Elementary Education, an MS in Instructional Leadership and Policy, and am working on a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (with an emphasis in language and culture).
