This 7-page lesson for William Cullen Bryant's Thanatopsis is everything you need to teach. There are vocabulary and 20 critical thinking questions (all with answers) and then another entire section for teacher's notes to help you teach this classic American poem.
The first activity is a Transcendental Nature reflection--turned essay. This has the student assignment as well as teacher grading rubric. The second part is filled with Whitmans' poetry broken down for 6 lit circle groups with study questions at the end about how the poems relate to Transcendentalism.

These are two writing/essay assigments for Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. The first has students make connections between Bradbury's predictions and the modern world today. The second asks them to research and present books that they would save.
This worksheet asks students to define America based on I Hear America Singing by Walt Whitman, I, Too, Sing America by Langston Hughes and Running to America by Richard Rodriguez.
