Practice your map skills while incorporating Halloween. We have lots of fun creating our Halloween maps, game cards, and features on a map. When you finish making your Halloween map, play with a partner. And see how well your direction skills are. Make sure you use the compass provided to help you. If you are ready for the challenge, I provided a blank map for children that are ready to create their own.

Who says learning ca't be fun? I've combined Language Arts vocabulary key words with our 3rd Grade Social Studies Book and created a scavenger hunt. Here is a unit I am currently working on. I had all my students observe the moon nightly. That was cool for them to watch. Then they charted the calendar each night and we reflected at the end of the week. I have also rotated my kids, so they have taken great notes, and I have started making large posters. We will go into the tasty Oreo cookies next. yum, yum. It's fun to get everything in - and have fu as well as the project.

I use this menu while sampling various books on Epic. After creating a collection for my students, they move from station to station while sampling a new genre. I gave them 15 minutes while moving to 6 stations. In addition, I gave them snacks to sample while sampling the books. It created an epic experience.

Have you ever wondered how children learn directions, or if they are naturally inherited? Even though we have a GPS, we still need to know the basic fundamentals. It includes fourth grade skills such as text to evidence, main ideas and details, the essential question, and figurative language. I find my students having difficulty with the test in general, so I would like them to be familiar with some of the wording. Here is a fun way to spend math on Halloween. I place 30 baggies filled with two handfuls of candy corn. Each child has a candy bag along with the Candy Corn activities. Usually parents donate3 bags of candy corn and that is sufficient. It's a nice day to add a Halloween twist to the day.

Isn't Thanksgiving a wonderful time to start a new tradition? It seems that not all children realize the importance of this holiday. In starting this new tradition, children write poetry and lead a discussion that gets their whole family involved. We start the boxes in class by decorating the boxes with RED, YELLOW, BROWN, AND ORANGE tissue paper. After that, the forms are attached and placed in the box along with a few other items. Diving into a handful of M&Ms, how can you not have fun? Weave your way into math with M&Ms by learning or reviewing a variety of skills. I used this form when our school was getting reevaluated for charter school. When the administrative team entered my room, students paired up to complete this scavenger hunt using their Treasures part 2 textbook. They asked the children lots of questions, and the children were well prepared to answer them. One student replied "I am looking in the table of contents to find what page this story is on." Use the thesaurus to come up with a creative, yet invigorating poem that will blow your readers away! By finding synonyms, you will enrich your vocabulary and it will display in your poem. I use a lot of poetry in my class. It especially gives the kids an opportunity to present in front of an audience without overwhelming them. I will add my rubric and check list soon.
