I have taught for 23 years, and I absolutely love this profession! I have taught regular education and special education, as well as elementary, middle, and high school. I am currently performing the role of an Academic coach between two elementary schools. I help write curriculum and create needed materials for teachers for them to use in their classrooms.

3rd Grade Common Core Daily Math Homework
This daily Math homework not only reviews students on the current skills the are working on, but it also loops back to things they have learned in the past. Each lesson reviews skills that may have even been taught at the beginning of the year. These homeworks have been proven to be effective in assisting students in passing standardized tests. The majority of my most previous class was made up of EIP and special needs students, of whom 100% passed the Georgia CRCT, and over 83% of all students

Teaching style
I believe in direct instruction with hands-on activities to supplement my instruction. I believe that students should be actively engaged in their education.
Awards & shining teacher moments
I have had many shining moments in my teaching career, but one of the best was when I had a student who had been home-schooled until third grade and she came into my class and couldn't read. By the end of the year, she looked at me and said, "Do you think I will pass the CRCT?" I told her, "Absolutely." She passed and she cried and I cried!!!! Moments like that are what makes teaching all worth it!!!!
My own education history
I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree and Specialist Degree in Special Education.
Additional biographical information
I have been married for 31 years and have three wonderful children and one beautiful granddaughter. My oldest child (a daughter) followed in her mama's footsteps and is a 3rd grade teacher. I am one very proud mama!!!!
