An application problem for solving systems of equations with an organizer for students to define the variables, create the equations, solve, check and explain their work. Best for the substitution method but can be used for elimination or graphing. Can also have students graph the equations.
If your students are struggling with combining like terms, this is a great way to show them how it works. Refer to like terms as keeping the pie slices with the same pie flavor. It also has instructions for multiplying monomials to help students understand how multiplication with polynomials is different than adding and subtracting polynomials. This was originally made for a pi day activity, but can work well on any day.
