Here is a graphic organizer my students sometimes use as a book report. For this activity, students write the title of the book on the recipe card, along with the characters and setting of the book. They then combine the information to retell the book in steps, similar to a recipe!
This quick-check activity is used weekly in my classroom as an informal assessment. At different times throughout the day, I announce “Time Check!” Students stop what they are currently working on, look at the clock and record the time. We tape our Time Checks to the tops of our desks for easy access.
