RI 3.2 Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea.Students establish the main idea of an informational text. They tell important details in sequential order and explain how the details strengthen the author's main idea.

Review previously taught information either independently or as a whole group with these SMART Notebook Slides.

These can be used to stand up name plates to be able to use both sides. They provide blocks to write students names in capital letters and then they include a Handwriting Without Tears line for both capital and lowercase letters to write students' name. The front also includes the numbers to 20. The back includes all 26 letters with all 44 Kindergarten Sight Words. They can be changed to match any grades words.

I used these in my classroom to post to help students write their color words. They can also be used as flash cards to help students practice reading and spelling their color words.

This is a video I created for a little boy who is autistic who loves racing and didn't know his letters yet. It plays the Dr. Jean Song Who Let the Letters Out showing a racer for each letter in the alphabet. I have several different formats and am willing to make different versions if you need it. I made one for my own son with pictures of his dad who is a racer and his friends. Message me if you would like for me to create one for you.

This is a banner that you print out then cut out the squares to make a banner that reads Welcome to Owl Class with owls on each end. You can position the letters any way you like and can even change the banner to say whatever you like.

1st Grade sight words that can be used on a Word Wall, as flashcards, or in a word work area.

I used these for morning work to allow students time to practice their spelling words each day of the week. Day 1 - Write the words in the boxes. Day 2 - Color vowels red and constants blue Day 3 - Cut out the boxes Day 4 - glue the words in a notebook

I use these checklists during my Guided Reading time to ensure that I am teaching the correct sight words in the correct Quarter and during the correct Reading Level. This list is based on the Jan Richardson's The Next Step in Guided Reading book.

Everybody loves Dr. Seuss and The Cat in the Hat! On March 2nd, study the man that started it all!

I use this checklist every day during class and when planning to ensure my students have met all the standards needed. This includes Letter I.D., Sight Words by Quarter, Running Record Level, Writing, & Math.

This set includes a Spelling Dictionary for students to put their spelling words into the dictionary to help them use their words in their writing. It also includes a sheet that can be copied front and back for students to keep their spelling tests in one place. Lastly, this set includes a sheet that can be sent home each Friday to let parents know what their child made on their spelling test and provides a running log of their grades to see improvements or deficiencies.

I used this resource for online learning but you could also use the slides in your own face to face class.
