For anyone taking the Harry Wong and Rosemary Wong classroom management course, this is my final binder from the class. If you want a blank copy of my binder (Which is all in one Word document, unlike how it is laid out on the website), I sell that for $2, too. This project begins with students learning how to read a 1"=1' scale ruler. Then, groups of 5 students to build a 1:12 scale model of a shed or guest house. I didn't like how on their website you had to fill out and print each page separately, and I didn't like that you could only download it as a zip-drive where each page was a separate file... so I copied and pasted all of the questions into a Word doc and put a text box beneath each question so you may type your answer into one file instead of ~63 files. This project allows each student or pair of students build a 1:12 scale section of the house from the Pixar movie "Up!". This project takes students about 7@72-minute blocks (500 minutes or about 3-weeks). Students do their best to sort a series of pictures into invention and innovation pairs. Then, there is an answer key and more information in a slideshow. Lastly, there is a link to a Buzzfeed article showing silly inventions; students should discuss whether they're really inventions or if they're innovations.

My county requires that we give students pretests and post-tests to collect data for student growth. Attached is my test and an answer key. I use Zip-Grade (see my modified zip-grade files, also available for $1) to collect and quickly grade student responses, but you can grade however you like.

This project takes students a total of about 400 minutes of class. Students need to learn how to calculate efficiency, brainstorm several options, choose from their or their partner's designs. This zipfile contains an assignment description and rubric for students to create a slideshow depicting the evolution of a specific piece of technology. It also contains a PowerPoint template for them to fill in (ie: place a picture of the first version/invention of your product here), as well as a teacher-made exemplar slideshow.

This zip file contains a daily slideshow as well as half-page handouts with all of the objectives, agendas, warm-ups, and closures for Foundations of Technology Unit 2 (The Engineering Design Process). This slideshow and word doc contain all of my objectives, agendas, warm-ups/activators, a conclusion/closure questions for Unit 1 of Foundations of Technology (Found Tech / FOT). This lasts about 5 weeks.

I use this activity as a "getting to know you." Students draw a road map with locations of past, present, and also their goals for the future... and then they write a paragraph about it. This comes with a slideshow about types of maps as well as an assignment paper with an example.

Students come up with an invention and document it by creating a brochure to tell the world about it. The brochure is in the format of both a design brief and an infomercial.

The zip-file contains a Jeopardy! game and a corresponding capture-sheet/study guide. The study guide has a regular version, visually impaired/large font version, and an answer key.

Prior to testing their crane or bridge, have students weigh it in grams. Then measure how much weight it held in pounds. This paper has students analyze their project, what broke, why do they think that part broke, and how many times its own weight did it hold.

This PowerPoint and Slideshow are my activator/warm-ups, closure/conclusion questions, objectives, and agendas for the first 5 days of school in Foundations of Technology (Found Tech / FOT). Some of the referenced files are sold separately.

In this zip file is a slideshow explaining how the Pythagorean Theorem works with several full-class examples (this is best as a review for students who already learned about the Pythagorean Theorem). Then there is a worksheet with some basic questions on the front which are missing different parts from the equation. On the back is a little wooden crane truss and students need to calculate how much total lumber it would take to build it. There is an answer key for the worksheet included, as well

Students cut out the steps to the engineering design process and attempt to put them in the correct spots. The varying sizes of the boxes for each step can serve as a hint to the students. Can be used as an assessment.
