The teacher will print out the corresponding document (I find it works best on card stock) and place them randomly around the room. **Do NOT put them in the order they print out! Students will begin by solving the first problem, under the sign that says "Start Here". Once they figure out the problem they must search for their answer. When they match up their answer, they will find their first letter to the riddle. They continue by solving the problem that is underneath their answer. The students
I usually do this activity before students leave for Winter break, since I will not see them again until the new year. Students will fill in each section based on what they went through during that current year and then decorate the blank child in the center to represent themselves. This activity lets them reflect over their year and how it went and some of their favorites.
Print out pizzas on cardstock and cut out along the lines. Place the center of the pizzas around the room randomly. Students will then get a "slice of pizza" to solve and find the correct "pizza" it belongs to .
Includes crime scence one a smartnotebook file, a crime scenario, csi "notebook" for students to answer questions and collect "evidence", footprint that correlates with evidence, the scenario to print out and a editable diploma for students once they have "solved the crime". It is aimed for grades 3rd-6th but can be modified for older students as well.
I had students solve the problems for each part of Santa before they could start coloring. Once they finished with the work, they would match up their correct, simplified answer with one of the corresponding colors and color it in. There are ten questions in total. Some with unequal denominators. Some with equal denominators.
The sheet can be provided as a study guide or as something for students to keep on an everyday basis. It provides a yes and no system for students to know which steps to take next when adding and subtracting fractions. It does have some of my own strategies that I use in my classroom but it is easily editable. Students must match each fraction to the most simplified form of that fraction.
There can be more than two fractions in a set.
I printed out the fraction cards on cardstock and had students cut them out.
I allowed them to work in pairs.
