Experience
I am in my 12th year of teaching 4th grade. Currently I am piloting an integrated language arts/social studies class. I have also taught 9 years of kindergarten, 2 years of 5th grade, and 1 year of middle school special education.
Teaching style
I love to teach using themes! I am constantly trying to connect my language arts skills with topics relevant to the other subject areas. I feel students learn so much more if they can see how events are related to each other. I find myself creating a lot of my own materials because commercial products for the intermediate grades are still fairly divided among subjects. That's okay, though. I'm finding that my custom-made activities are the ones the students are most successful with!
