I have been teaching since 2006 in an inner-city midwestern, manufacturing community. We have led the nation in economic downturn and growth having had the President of the United States, the Honorable Barack Obama, visit us three times. It has changed the style of teacher I thought I would become, but it has definitely brought the true passion of an educator out of me.

I am truly more of a behaviorist and am aware of the various things that may influence my students. Understanding my style is more beneficial to myself and students.

I have been voted Teacher of the Month by my students twice.

I was raised in a Midwest country community with about 200 people in my graduating class. I went off to college at Indiana State University, which was a cultural shock to my upbringing. I soon joined the military and spent 6 wonderful years travelling and experiencing the world. I attended the University of North Carolina - Pembroke as an English major because I wanted to be a writer... Unfortunately, my father became quite ill so I returned to my hometown area and finished my education at Indiana University in South Bend, IN. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Bachelors of Arts in General Studies with 200+ credits.

When I returned to my hometown, I wanted to teach students to explore the world but also consider the world in which they live: the laws, the social expectations, and the changes they can make. I have two children who both attend Indiana University - Bloomington and both have made independent decisions to travel the world for themselves. My labors have not been in vain.
