About the store

Experience

I have been teaching high school English since 2006. Courses include grades 9 and 10 ELA; AP Language and Composition; Journalism.

Teaching style

I generally take a workshop approach. Students are encouraged to set various goals related to course standards, and I coach them to meet those goals. I have recently move to "pointless" assessment for assignments, which is reflected in many of my products.

My own education history

Undergraduate English major with an MA in both English and English Education.

Additional biographical information

English teacher since 2006. Yogi since 2008. Mom since 2011. I’m still in the process of becoming fully me, but these three roles—and the people I’m with in them—contribute to my growth every day. Learn more at mshastings.com.
