This worksheet is based on the book I wrote and illustrated, A Stone's Crow for preK-2nd grade. It's a great book on the science gemstones; apart of geology. This is a simple activity that will engage children as they grasp the concept of addition. I have provided short directions for adults. It is important to remember that small children are just developing conceptual skills. At 3, 4, and 5 children need to See and Touch objects in order to count them.

This worksheet is for preK-2nd grade. There is very little attention given to earth sciences in the younger grades. This is a fun way to incorporate gemstones into math and literacy studies. The worksheet complements the book, A Stone's Crow. Although you don't need to purchase A Stone's Crow to use the worksheet, you can find the book on Amazon under my name, Jenifer Peters Dearinger. Your class will enjoy the short story of a crow collecting shiny gemstones. I have supplied then answer key.
