I use this when working with small groups to teach context clues and as homework. Paying attention to how they use context clues helps students to slow down and begin reflecting on how unknown words effect their comprehension.

About the store

Experience

Next year I'll be moving into my second year of teaching. I work at an amazing international school in Italy and teach 4th grade.

Teaching style

I believe that teaching is about creating a love of learning, and that this begins with creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters growth in the whole child. In order to learn, children need to feel comfortable enough to take risks. Beyond that, I work to create and classroom that encourages curiosity. Students who work hands-on with the subject area and seek answers to essential questions they've helped to develop take ownership of their learning.

My own education history

I recieved both my Bachelor's in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and Masters in Literacy from Alfred University.

Additional biographical information

I am the luckiest person in the world in that I get to combine two of my passions with my job: travel and teaching. Being able to see the world has been incredible, and I'm fortunate to actually call lesson planning and creating a "hobby" that I truly enjoy. I call Upstate New York home, and as amazing as it is to see new places, nothing beats spending time at home with my family.
