Compare and Contrast Two Texts on the Same Topic Freebie Posters
These are 8.5 X 14, so I couldn't attach them to the anchor charts I have uploaded for this standard (see my store "jframe"). CCSS Story Structure: Stone Soup and Mrs. McNosh and the Great Big Squash
The main events from each story are enlarged on 8.5 X 11 pages (1 event per page). After reading, show the students an event and have them determine whether it occurred in the beginning, middle, or end and then justify WHY. Included are an anchor chart (to help them figure out which events happen in the B, M, E), and justification cards.

Help Yourself Word Wall Books
These are easy to assemble and a life saver if your word wall is hard to see. Includes grades 1-3 word wall words, "juicy word" examples for frequently overused words, reading/grammar/math content area words, six-traits help, beginning and ending sentence ideas for writing, and a list of transition words for writing.

About the store
Experience
This is my 16th year of teaching. I've taught in rural South Carolina, on an Indian Reservation in Arizona, and in a primarily Spanish speaking public school in the downtown Phoenix area.
Teaching style
I love planning lessons AND teaching them! It's a tough job and we're grossly underpaid, but every day I pray that my classroom will be a place that BOTH my students and I enjoy being in, and after 16 years it still is (thankfully!). In my classroom, I have a wall for reading, grammar, writing and math. Each wall includes vocabulary posters, anchor charts, daily objectives, and sentence frames to guide student discussion and assist them in using their academic vocabulary. I change my walls for every standard. My team and I strive to keep students actively engaged by planning a variety of lesson activities that require students to demonstrate their understanding often (real-time assessments) and discuss their learning often (partner/group sharing). I intend to upload tons of stuff, including all of my posters and activities. Please check back frequently!

While teaching in a multi-grade classroom on an Indian Reservation in Arizona, I was awarded the Governor's Special Recognition Award for teaching in 2007 and 2008, the Governor's Recognition of Excellence Award in 2009, and the Best Teacher Award in 2010.

I'm from the east coast, but fell in love with the southwest and relocated here 12 years ago. I love to hike, camp, create things for my classroom, spend time with my nieces and nephews, and play with my four dogs.
