Here's a fun way for you to teach the Strategies of a Good Reader in a fun, monster-themed way that "grabs" your readers' attention and gets them engaged in the reading process. You can glue the document onto construction paper and laminate to make posters. You can even reduce the document, laminate, and, then, make into bookmarks.

Writing a friendly letter is now more fun than ever. When your students sing about the 5 components/parts of a friendly letter (heading, greeting, body, closing, signature), they will be able to efficiently write their letters while smiling through the process. The easy to remember lyrics are sung to the tune of "You are my sunshine" by Jimmie Davis.
This fun, end -of - the- year poem encourages your students to keep smiling through the summer--while reminding them to continue to be exactly who they were created to be. The link to the smiley person fidget can be found on page 2 of the document. Simply tape the toy to the center of the "Circle of Friends" and either send home with your students or mail to them.
When kids have difficulty lining up to transition from A to B, valuable teaching time is lost. Here is a fun, responsorial chant that catches students' attentions, conveys expectations, and cuts down on wasted teaching time. The team-focus of the chant reminds us that we work together to make things happen.
