This is a place value Powerpoint lesson with teacher notes. It aligns to the mathematics Common Core standard 4.NBT.1 recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. The lesson was designed for 4th grade but can be used with 3rd to provide accelerated learning for advanced students.

The essential questions can be posted on teachers ELA bulletin board. These allow students to connect more with why they need to use reading and comprehension strategies when they read.
