About the store
I am a middle school math teacher with 17 years of classroom experience. I hold both a Multiple Subjects Credential and a Single Subject Credential in Mathematics, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in grades 5–8 mathematics. Throughout my career, I have developed and curated instructional resources to supplement my district’s adopted curriculum. These materials are intentionally designed to align with Middle School Common Core State Standards and to address gaps in existing programs. I have used and refined these resources over many years, consistently seeing improved student performance and assessment outcomes. I currently teach at a Title I school, and my top priority is creating accessible, effective resources that meet the diverse needs of our student population.

Experience

Teaching style

My teaching style emphasizes a balance between direct instruction and collaborative learning to enhance student understanding. As our district has adopted the Thinking Classroom approach in mathematics, I use these resources to support that model while also providing students with additional structured practice to reinforce key concepts and skills.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been honored to receive a Teacher of the Year recognition and to work at a school site that has shown strong performance on state assessments within our district. I have been asked to serve on the Instructional Leadership Team, where I contribute to conversations around curriculum and instructional practices. I have also been selected to participate on the district adoption committee for the future mathematics curriculum.

My own education history

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Long Beach, along with my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. While teaching full time, I completed my Single Subject Credential in Mathematics at UCLA and later earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in grades 5–8 mathematics from Walden University.

Additional biographical information

As an immigrant who attended middle and high school as an English Language Learner, I draw on my own experiences to encourage students and families to view language as a bridge rather than a barrier. I emphasize perseverance, effort, and setting meaningful goals, helping students understand that with dedication and support, they can pursue their educational and personal aspirations.
