Students will demonstrate their knowledge of topics typically taught in the first semester of high school geometry: angles, distances, polygon angles, graphing lines, parallel and perpendicular lines, parallel lines cut by transversal angle relationships.

Students will use their knowledge of area and perimeter to design a zoo and calculate costs associated with building it. They will also show fluency of using a protractor and ruler to create different distances and angles.

Students will demonstrate their understanding of geometry to calculate the distance of a hole-in-one path of a mini-golf course they create. Students will demonstrate fluency using a ruler and protractor to create distances and angles. They will also demonstrate knowledge of trig functions, pythagorean theorem, area, volume, and polygon angles.

Students will demonstrate their proficiency using a ruler and protractor to create lines and angles. I typically give this as a small final before the cumulative final for high school geometry.

The students will be tasked with constructing 3D solids to build a "castle." They will then calculate their castle's total volume and surface area. It challenges all sorts of problem solving skills as well as giving them an opportunity to get up and move around vs being stuck in their desks. Your students will use the properties of parallelograms to determine whether or not two polygons are considered parallelograms or not. This is a great way to make proofs more fun and less tedious. Your students will need protractors and rulers.

Students will practice creating 3D Solids from 2D nets. They will have to plan out how large to make the nets based on volume requirements.

The students will be tasked with measuring any wall/walls of the classroom. They will then need to calculate the area of that wall. Using that measurement, they will then calculate the total cost of each paint option to determine the cheapest option.
