About the store

I currently teach 9th Grade Honors Physical Science and 11th and 12th Grade IB Physics at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. I am a former engineer (Seagate Technology) with degrees from the University of Minnesota and Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!). When I’m not teaching, grading, or preparing lessons, I spend my time singing in a barbershop chorus called the Great Northern Union and finding ways to get outdoors and explore the Twin Cities by foot, bike, ice skate, and cross country ski.

This challenge is based off of the game Clue where players need to identify a murder suspect, location, and weapon. There are 6 options given for each category and every clue that a group deciphers will narrow that list down. As written, groups will need to solve all 8 clues before they are able to solve the mystery. Each of the clues is encoded using a different cipher technique. This activity contains three levels of pattern cubes with 5 of the 6 sides filled out with letters, numbers, and shapes in some sort of predictable pattern. Students must make observations about the sides that they have access to and figure out what needs to go on that missing side. There are 3 levels of progressing difficulty for the cubes.
