Design Your Own Website

After going through the 4 HTML Basics lessons, give this to your kids to try! I left the topic open ended but feel free to change it. I give my guys about 3 days to do this in class. I highly recommend you show them a website for something local as an example.

Use these 5 lessons to help your kiddos build their own website. I use the W3 Schools editor (https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_intro) to test and modify the code, and then Google Sites to publish it as an actual website. The 4 lessons require students to read and modify the code to meet their needs. I have them reuse the code each time so that they end up with an actual little website. The other document is steps on how to take their code and publish it on Google Sites.

I use this with my 6th Graders to practice using the Snipping Tool and the Print Screen key. All of the locations are left blank. I have the kids explore my school's website and their Google Classroom and take snips and screenshots of a variety of things.
