I taught mathematics for 10 years in both public and independent school settings. My teaching experience spans middle and high school, including AP Statistics, Statistics, Financial Algebra, Advanced Geometry, Algebra 1, and gifted and talented math courses at the 6th–8th grade levels. I taught AP Statistics for five years and have experience teaching in a variety of instructional contexts, including traditional five-day schedules and block schedules, as well as mixed-ability classrooms. I also served as a Math Department Chair and Student Life Coordinator, which gave me experience in curriculum planning, pacing decisions, and supporting both students and teachers across an academic year.

Experience

Teaching style

My goal as a math teacher was always to help students feel less intimidated by mathematics and more confident in their own abilities. I focused on conceptual understanding, student ownership, and clear organization, believing that when students understand the why behind the math and know what to expect, they are more willing to engage and take risks. Organization and predictability were central to my classroom, and students frequently shared that having clear routines and accessible resources helped them feel supported. My classroom environment was calm, enthusiastic, and demanding in a supportive way. I believe it’s important for students to see that learning is ongoing, so I was open about mistakes and modeled how to seek answers when I didn’t know something immediately. Lessons were often experience-first, allowing students to explore ideas before formal definitions were introduced. In my AP Statistics classes, I consistently incorporated AP-style questions throughout the year rather than saving them for end-of-year review, helping students build familiarity and confidence over time.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was honored to receive the Teacher Excellence Endowment, an award recognizing dedication, passion, openness, and a strong commitment to professional growth. I was also proud to serve as Math Department Chair, a role that allowed me to support curriculum development and instructional planning beyond my own classroom. Some of my most meaningful moments as a teacher came through student feedback. Students frequently shared that my classes helped them feel more confident in math, even when it wasn’t their favorite subject, and that they appreciated the balance of organization, humor, and support in the classroom. In AP Statistics, students consistently reported feeling prepared on exam day, and enrollment in the course grew due to its reputation. My AP Statistics classes achieved an 85% pass rate, with a strong majority (73%) of students earning a 5. I also built each of my courses from the ground up, designing curriculum, pacing, and assessments to support both engagement and understanding.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Lehigh University and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on secondary mathematics from Agnes Scott College. My academic background combines deep content knowledge in mathematics with formal training in pedagogy, curriculum design, and instructional practice.

Additional biographical information

I began creating teaching resources as a way to stay connected to education and to support teachers in the way I once needed myself. When I was teaching a new subject, I often found myself overwhelmed, searching for resources in a panic, and spending money on materials that didn’t actually help. My goal is to create thoughtful, practical resources that truly support teachers, especially when it comes to planning, organization, and pacing — areas where I feel most at home. Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, as well as working in my pottery studio. Creative work has always been an important balance for me, and I bring that same care and intentionality to the resources I create for teachers.
