Through the use of music, students will learn many literary terms and apply them to lyrics and poetry. This is a creative, hands-on projects that can be used as a stand-alone unit, in conjunction with a poetry unit, or as a review unit at the end of the year. This was a 2012 $2,000 ING Unsung Heroes Award Winner.

This is a hands-on poetry project that employs 21st Century Skills. This is a culminating project (with presentation) for a poetry unit. Several students entered art/poetry contests in our area and one won Grand Prize. It is a creative and fun project that forces studentst to use higher order thinking skills. This is an award-winning $500 mini-grant proposal.

I am a writer and have published quite a few essays, stories, and articles for undergraduate and graduate school, a national history honor society, The Humanist Magazine, and a local newspaper. I am an active participant in my school and community as a coach, volunteer, advisor, editor of my school's yearbook, newsletter, and several other publications.
